New face in Hong Kong Film Industry

Shirley Young from Hong Kong  local artist and singer. Besides acting she also enjoys singing and scriptwriting too . Shirley told Colossa Media in the   entertainment industry comprehensively In the coming 5 years, I would like to present excellent film works and songs to audience. Hope all of them can explore my world and appreciate my presentations. I love movie because its a world that can try different roles besides reality. Taste the feelings of different characters and act like another person would be a new try. Everybody can have a relaxing time when they are having films. For externment, kill time, dating or new inspiration still can be  find from films. Thats my life work which cannot give up!!

I begin to act this years. Hong Kong film director Tsoi Hak Kin invited me into his group for movie. Really thanks for bringing me into a newest world. Then. I start my first acting secery. Its different from singing which is more challenging.

Leung Siu-lung is my role model that i do love Chinese marital acts. His Chinese Kung Fu inspire me want to get involved in action films. It is difficult when i try to fight with strong man cause I dont have a good Kung Fu foundation Sometimes,I am scared that I cannot present it well. Acting with Leung Siu Lung is really enjoyable mentent. He loves to share his experience with us and get my fear out.

Finally. To all the young people. If u love acting. Just do it without hesitation!

ICASA WILL MAKE NO CHANGE

Communications regulator Icasa will make no changes to call termination rates for the next 12 months, it said at the weekend.
It had been expected to announce new rates by the end of September, when the current three-year glide path of reductions in the price of wholesale calls comes to an end.
Previous reductions in the rates, which operators charge each other to carry calls between their networks, have translated into lower retail prices for consumers as the smaller operators took advantage of the lower fees to challenge the bigger incumbents for market share.
The current glide path, which was due to expire on 30 September, was introduced in 2014.
“Icasa has received requests to extend the current glide path validity period owing to concerns regarding the time required to conduct a cost study in order to determine new termination rates for the next three years,” the regulator said in a statement.
“Icasa will publish a briefing note on its website by no later than 30 September 2017 outlining the consultative approach and timelines to determine new termination rates.”

Is’thunzi’ star Thuso Mbedu nominated for #EmmyAward2017

Bhedu was nominated in the category Best Performance by an Actress and will go up against, Adriana Esteves in Justiça, Anna Friel in Marcella and Sonja Gerhardt in Ku’damm 56.
AKA’s ‘Life on the Road’ web-series premieres episode 3
“I’ve experienced a range of emotions since I found out today (Wednesday) over Twitter. I am still trying to grasp what this actually means for me right now. But also on the other hand thinking about looking to attend the awards and looking for sponsors for the trip,” said the 26 year-old actress.
She said that she owed this nomination to the character herself and challenges faced.
“Winnie is a challenging character, and right from the start I took a decision to go all in and grow with this character. I would make offer after offer trying to be the best that no one has never been seen before,” said Bhedu.
Is’thunzi is a provocative coming of age drama that tells the story of Winnie, a young girl who has a dream – to rescue herself and her older brother (who sacrificed his own dreams to raise her) from poverty. While other kids are at school studying for their final exams.
Cut it with Khanyi
“Winnie is a bad ass. She has been through the most, seen the most and she never settles for anything less than what she deserves. But although she is a badass, she is also a character I can relate to in that she is very caring, considerate and always ready help others, so her character is very 3D. And just when you think you’ve figured her out, she changes on you. No matter how down and out she is, she still raises up. She has super powers!,” Bhedu said.
While Bhedu said that being nominated was an extremely big deal for her, she believes that her best is still yet to come.

“Getting the global nod means a lot. I am grateful for the nomination and it’s because of this character that I am here – but I feel that I have so much more to offer the industry and I am going to raise to the occasion if it speaks to who I am. I not only owe it to myself, but to South Africa,” she added..

Mbedu thanked one of her main mentors in the field was Amanda Lane.

Lane is the writer of Is’thunzi and is currently helping Mbedu with other writing projects.

“Amanda has a beautiful heart. From the audition room right to the set. She makes sure she gets the best out of you. We do rehearsals before shooting which does not always happen in the industry. She cares for you as a person and not just someone who will deliver results. She is also currently mentoring me in writing and working behind the scenes,” she said.

Mbedu said her love for the industry has made her passionate about wanting to learn the way things work on set and behind the scene.

‘Hazardous Diction’ Exhibition

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Johannesburg, Gauteng  26th February – Layziehound is pleased to present his exhibition, titled “HAZARDOUS DICTION”, at 95 Commissioner Street. The press and public will be invited to view the artwork and meet the artist between 12:00h and 18:00h on Sunday 26 February 2017.

“Hazardous Diction” is a collaboration by Layziehound, Goodlord Shoyisa, Matthews Tshuma, James Shield and Azael Langa. They have had a brief overview of the work they’ll be doing together; they each began to work on sections of the canvas, each contributing their own individual style to the body of work.

“Art Should Disturb the Comfortable and Comfort the Disturbed” – Cesar Cruz.

The Show ‘Hazardous Diction’ represents those who are voiceless towards whatever harm they’ve suffered from Hazardous words inflicted by everyday society. Words spoken without much consideration for the next person could potentially spread poisonous defects to the mind resulting in possible substance abuse and self-worthlessness etc. depending on the individual’s strong spiritual resilience to absorb such negativity of what has been said against them.

Words do not only have the power to pollute, but they also have potential to kill, not only the mind but also ones dreams and future aspirations beyond the ignorant present. It’s Hazardous even from a parent’s point of view to tell a child for instance that they’ll never amount to anything. The mission is to offend the offenders, using the power of words.

Layziehound about his work; We are not judges nor are we saints. The show highlights the problematic part of our diction’s everyday towards Politics, Education, Social influences and the dangerous impact of hazardous words conveyed. Through ‘Words’ wars have been declared and nations have been divided. The gas mask is a metaphor for the pollution caused by words and the immunity projected by the offenders.

The Influence comes from various things in society, reading newspapers or driving across town and reading pluck cards on the side of the roads and some conversations are triggered by artists in the studio as well as the ones participating in the collaboration, we have thrown in as many fresh words as we can get away with, Yours is to realize that words have such significant power! Be conscious on how you use them.

Materials used to convey the purpose are; Liberal Mix of Color, Mix Media, Installations, Ashes etc.

Layziehound is a dynamic Johannesburg-based artist who graduated from APS since 2007 and whose work has been featured in Various Galleries and publications. Latest exhibitions of his work will appear at the 13th Floor gallery,’the former Dope store’ (Urban Ocean Building development Properties).

For more information on the exhibition, contact Fundi Malinga at 083 499 7223 info@gotothe13th.com or go to the 13th Floor’s website at gotothe13th.com

The SAFTA team at the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) with assistance from SAFTA committee members (CCISFA, SASFED, eTV, Mnet, SABC and Starsat) have put in a tremendous effort to ensure that the awards uphold a standard of excellence and remain a world class production.

Each year comes with its own challenges and growth opportunities that we highly prioritise. The NFVF will continue to strive for transparency and solutions in order to make sure that the SAFTAs showcase not only the glamorous side of the industry, but the underlying wealth of talent, education, skill and most importantly the passion that the South African industry truly has.”

The NFVF would like to acknowledge and thank all the 181 SAFTAs 11 judges for their invaluable contribution and dedication to the adjudication and voting process that started in December 2016.
